Frequently Asked Questions

The following are answers to the questions I hear most often. If you have a question that you don’t see an answer to, please reach out to me here.

  • I work with parents of 2 ½ - 18-year-olds. The work I do with parents is about communication, relationship building, and encouragement, so children need to be old enough to communicate verbally.

  • Couples that engage in the coaching process together find that it provides a regular time and supportive space to work through parenting challenges together. I have also worked with single parents and with one member of a couple and the process has been equally valuable.

  • I don’t record the calls. I recommend that you take notes on our calls, and I provide an email after each call that highlights the concepts we discussed, gives links to additional reading, and clarifies the action items you’ve identified

  • I have a variety of times during the work week to schedule calls including evenings for those parents that need to talk after the kids are in bed. I don’t generally have weekend hours.

  • With your coaching package you are welcome to email me and I commit to a 24-hour response via email.

  • It is your responsibility to schedule your 3 calls each month on my calendar. If you need to reschedule or cancel, you can do so in advance of the call through my calendar app.

  • Most parents finish the 6 months and continue after that as they find that regular support, information, and accountability help them to be the parents they want to be.

If you find the process isn't working for you, or that you have enough tools for a while, we will talk it through and agree on the best plan for you.

  • I am not currently doing in-person classes. About 3-4 times per year I lead Master Classes through the Parent Encouragement Program. I'm happy to talk to you about the differences between classes and coaching, and what the best fit is for you. Just click HERE to book a complimentary call.

  • The #1 benefit that clients say they get from coaching with me is that they are CALMER. They say they see their children from a new perspective, have positive parenting tools to use in the moment, and have more faith in themselves and their children.

  • Coaching is future-focused. You will bring your real-life scenarios to the call, and we will pull them apart to understand what is currently happening now in your family, I’ll add perspective, tools, and what’s worked in other families, and as a result of our conversation, you will create specific action steps you will take before the next call.

Parent Coaching is about partnering with you to help you become the parent you want to be.

Therapy is focused on working with a professional to overcome obstacles due to a mental health disorder. It is typically focused on what happened in the past and how those obstacles are impacting you currently.

If I see that there are benefits that you or your child would get from working with a qualified therapist, I will encourage you to seek that out. If you are already working with a therapist, I am happy to support that relationship.

  • I do not accept insurance and my services do not qualify for a billable code that is required by most insurance companies. However, I am happy to provide you with a receipt that can be submitted to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

  • If the court has ordered you to take parenting classes, I recommend the online offerings at https://onlineparentingcenter.com/ or
